2014 vintage combines power and elegance, vibrant blackberry & cherry pie, licorice flavors, hot brick, black raspberry, complex flavors. Nicely focused, anise, tar nose; cracked black pepper smoke, tasty black fruit, dried berry palate and solid structure with a long seductive finish. What legs. We added 5% Old Vine Petite Sirah to the 2014, the result, a dark black monster Monte Rosso with spicy dark fruit flavors. Hedonism in a glass! Perhaps the biggest and darkest Monte Rosso ever produced by Charter. Should continue to age nicely over the next ten to fifteen years. Only 8 barrels produced. Rare and limited.

We source our Monte Rosso grapes each year since 1999 from a small two-acre block at the very top of the Monte Rosso vineyard. This block is one of the oldest blocks planted in the 1880's, many years before Teddy Roosevelt was President.
